Trae - 2 Weeks Old!!

We just had Trae's 2 week Dr. appointment he is already up to 10 pounds I can't believe it!! He has also grown a 1/4 of an inch. Other than that nothing new to report. The Dr. said "he is perfect", what more could we ask for?

Trae James Hernandez was born via C-Section at 8:53 am on Thursday December 17, 2009. He weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz. and was 21 1/2 inches long.

More Jace Funnies!!

Funny #1
Jace was getting ready to take his bath and I was about to put him in the bath tub and I could smell that he had farted. I asked him if he had and he said "no it's just wind". I started to crack up. I guess because it was a silent one it didn't count!!

I was getting ready for work sitting in front of the mirror doing my hair. Jace was in the bath tub playing when Luis came up to me and gave me a kiss on the neck and Jace shouted at him "Stop Lover!!!"

Luis is really trying to freshen up on his Spanish and in doing so is teaching Jace a lot of words. Jace will look around and ask Luis what all kinds of different things are in Spanish. We were sitting at the dinner table and Jace pointed at this decorative tin hanging on our kitchen wall and asked Luis how you say that in Spanish. Luis said he didn't know so in response Jace said it was a "liqour" apparently he corrects Luis' Spanish all the time with his own Spanish version.

Jace had his first cleaning at the dentist today, he has been a couple other times to do x-rays etc. to check on his lovely underbite. He did excellent and apparently was talking their ears off which I think is hilarious because he is normally so shy around new people. They said his teeth look great and we are going to wait a little longer to see if we need to get an appliance to push those top teeth back out to correct the underbite. I figure since it doesn't bother him at all and they are just baby teeth that are going to fall out, what is the point, but I am not the expert so we will just have to wait and see.

Potty Mouth Here We Come!!

Luis, Jace and I were on our way to Sam's and Luis was driving. He accidentally got in the turning lane when we needed to go straight and Luis said "Oh Sh!t" so naturally Jace immediately started to say it. Trying to keep straight faces and not laugh we told Jace that wasn't what Luis said and that he was saying it wrong and it was "Oh Shoot". Well the next thing you know we are in Sam's and Jace is in the cart and some of our drink spilled on the floor. Jace started saying really loudly "Oh Sh!t, Oh Sh!t" again and again. Luis and I are just mortified. There were people every where, most of them just walked by us laughing.
From now on with the advice of Luis' Mom we just tell Jace any bad words he might say are "grown up words". We know he will hear them all the time but hopefully from now on he will know he shouldn't use them!!!

The 3 of us were sitting at the dinner table talking and Luis being his dorky self that he is around us starting to sing to Jace that song that says "cause your my best friend." I pretended I was sad and told Luis in front of Jace "I thought I was your best friend". Jace looked at us and said "she's not your best friend, she's your love".

Come on how cute is that!!

Boys and their Toys!!

What is it with boys and guns? I have been very wary about getting Jace any toy guns to play with. I was not raised around guns so I am scared to death of them. Well just because Jace didn't have any toy guns didn't mean he didn't play with them. One of the first things he made with his giant lego's was a gun and of course every stick shaped object turns in to a gun too.

I finally gave in and bought Jace a little cap gun a couple of weeks ago, while Luis was in Mexico, because he is going to be a cowboy for Halloween. I gave him strict rules about the gun, he can not point it or shoot at anything that is living - just toys etc. Well of course this became his favorite toy that he wanted to take everywhere. He asked several times to take it places when we go out and I would just tell him absolutely not!!

When Luis came home from Mexico he took Jace to school in the morning and Jace proceeded to tell Luis about his gun and that mommy said "absolutely not can he take his gun to school." Luis called me right away to tell me what Jace told him because he thought it was so funny.

Happy 1st Birthday Elizabeth!!

Today was our nieces 1st birthday. Her birthday party was on Saturday, she had a great time, especially with the cake as you can see in the pictures. Unfortunately Jace and Luis couldn't make it because Jace had a 103 degree fever that started on Thursday night until Sunday afternoon. The poor little guy was just crushed that he couldn't go to the party, he had been talking about baby Elizabeth's birthday for about a month. So I decided not to take the present and card that Jace picked out for her to her birthday party and we would try to meet up today on her actual birthday so he could give it to her himself. Well wouldn't you know that his fever came back last night, this time with a pretty good cough to go with it. He was already so excited about seeing Elizabeth that we couldn't disappoint him again so since this time it was just a low grade fever (about 100) and he made it thru school okay we just stocked up on wipes and hand sanitizer to take to dinner and it all worked out. Happy Birthday Elizabeth, and Happy 1/2 Birthday Jace!!

Jace Funnies!!!

Oh my goodness Jace has been totally cracking us up lately!!! I just have to share these two stories that happened this morning. Our routine for Jace is to bathe him in the morning. So he plays around in the tub in our bathroom while Luis and I get ready for work. Well I got out of the shower and was drying off and Jace was on his tummy in the bathtub and proceeds to tell me "Mommy I am blowing bubbles......... with my FARTS!!!" I just thought that was the funniest thing ever, and then to top it off he then tells me how smart he is by saying "FART starts with F!!" What a little genius we have on our hands.

The next story happened a few minutes later after Luis got Jace out of the bath and all dressed. Luis sent Jace back into the bathroom to give me a hug and a kiss before they left for school/work and that is when I brush Jace's hair. So I gave Jace a hug and a kiss then I brushed his hair and he tells me, "Mommy, I don't want anyone to touch my hair because it's AWESOME" how histarical is that!?!?! Such a little character that Jace is!!

My Mom turns the big 6-0 today!!!

It's a ..............BOY!!!

It's probably no surprise to anyone that we are going to be having another boy!! That makes 4 boy's in a row for the Hernandez family. Luis and Jace came with me to my appointment. We kept telling Jace about the appointment and how he would get to see the baby and it was so funny because apparently we didn't explain it properly because he was expecting to actually see the baby not just a picture of the baby. After we left the hospital Jace called both of his Grandmothers to tell them he is going to have a baby brother.
I have to admit finding out I was having another boy was a very crazy experience. Don't get me wrong I am thrilled to have another boy, especially since Jace is so great, but I was sad knowing that Luis won't get to experience having a little girl, especially because as you all probably know I am a huge Daddy's Girl myself!!
We have not picked out a name yet but I am hoping to figure it out soon so I can have his stocking ready to go by Christmas!!

Underwear, Where Are You?

Luis needed to go out to run some errands last night and of course wanted to take his best buddy Jace with him. They made a few stops before heading to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things one of them being underwear. Well apparently Luis was having a tough time figuring out where they were in the store and told Jace he couldn't find them so Jace proceeded to yell, "underwear, where are you?"

Seriously he has to be the cutest thing ever!!!

Baby Hernandez #2

Luis and I (and Jace) are thrilled to announce that we are expecting baby #2 in mid December, only a year behind schedule. I am about 12 weeks along but it has felt like an eternity. This pregnancy has been totally different than it was with Jace. I am constantly nauseous so I never want to eat – which I never dreamed would happen to me, and I am exhausted, poor Luis has been a trooper being a single Dad. I come home from work and pretty much go straight to bed. Because of this drastic difference in pregnancies of course everyone is assuming it will be a girl but Luis is not convinced. We will be finding out what we are having in a couple of months and I will be sure to let everyone know.

Our Little Man!!!

One of my very good friends Abbie has a very talented sister who is a photographer and does amazing work. Everyone has commented on how great we look in all the pictures, what you don't realize is that we got 40 pictures out of about 300!!! My only regret about the pictures is that I didn't get them done sooner!!

Phrase of the Week

Jace has been testing us pretty badly lately and we (especially Luis) try to be on the ball and dicipline him right away. It gets kind of trciky when he talks back or acts like he is going to throw a fit and then says, "I'n just playin mommy" luckily for him we typically start to chuckle and forget to dicipline him. I swear what did I laugh about before kids?
