Jace's Phrase of the Week

Jace is at the age where he wants to contantly entertain us running around being silly. If we aren't paying attention he says "Mommy, Daddy watch I do."

Jace's Phrase of the Week

Jace was playing with his football and running around, Luis asked him what he was doing and he said "playing football, gotta hit somebody"

Where does he get this stuff from????

Kiss, Kiss, Kiss, Oui Oui

Jace is such a sweet boy and Luis and I just can't give him enough hugs and kisses it seems. We started giving him kisses on the cheeks which led to giving him 3 kisses alternating cheeks each time and then saying "oui, oui" (like the French do). Well this innocent little game became worrysome when Luis was getting Jace dressed and Jace proceeded to say "Daddy kiss wee wee, kiss wee wee." I sure hope he hasn't told anyone else that!!!!

Halloween

Halloween was a great success this year. I had the day off and Luis got off early so we were able to go up to Jace's school for their little in house trick or treating. The kiddos were so cute most of them were really excited to get all dressed up but there were a few that just cried and cried.

After the daycare events were through we took Jace to Trick or Treat at the Panther Creek Shopping Center in The Woodlands and my parents and Pete & Amanda with little baby Elizabeth were able to meet up with us. We all had a lot of fun and enjoyed seeing all the kids (and some adults) all dressed up.

We didn't have many trick or treaters at our new house so we were able to go to several houses and by about the 3rd one Jace had the routine down!!!

We are already starting to think about what he could be next year, maybe one of the 3 Amigo's, although we know he will probably want to pick out what he wants to be himself next year(please God not Barney!!!)

1st Dentist Appointment

Jace has his first dentist appointment today. I went prepared with a bag full of toys that he could carry in with him. We got there and it was a kids dream with a little game room for the kiddo's & everything, the only problem was Jace got really shy and wouldn't leave my side. I ended up sitting on the floor of this little game room with Jace in my lap and me with a clipboard full of paperwork to fill out, that was somewhat difficult to say the least. After getting all the paperwork filled out we had a 45 minute wait which would normally be a nightmare but Jace was excellent!!! He was so anxious to go sit in "the big chair" that you could see thru the window of the waiting room and I told him he had to wait for his name to be called so he just sat patiently - what an angel. He was so excited when they finally called "Jace Hernandez" and followed the assistant to the back room. They put him in these super colorful sunglassed to protect his eyes from the bright light. He just loved it and thought he was Joe Cool - I will make sure to have my camera next time to capture the cuteness for everyone to see. Right after Jace got to check all the equipment out the dentist came in and took a quick look, then the assistant whisked Jace away to get all of his goodies so the dentist and I were able to talk.
Jace has a pretty good underbite but the dentist believes it is strictly a dental issue and not skeletal, which is a great thing. She said in a year or so we could pursue trying to push out those top teeth that are slanted inward but either way it will not help or worsen how his permanent teeth will come in. So overall it was a great visit and I got the information I wanted to know. He was so well behaved that they are going to try to do a cleaning next time which will be in about 6 months. He can't wait to go back. If he only knew what the future holds :)!!!!

Luis and I head for San Diego tomorrow returning Sunday night and I leave again on Monday for Denver returning on Wednesday. I was certain that I was going to miss this very special occasion but as usual everything worked out!!!
Amanda and baby are doing great. We are so excited for Pete and Amanda and know they will be excellent parents!!

Phrase of the Week

The last couple of days Jace has started saying a new phrase which just cracks Luis and I up. Jace only says this if he is talking to Luis or I and we are distracted by something or someone else. If we do not give him our undivided attention he puts his hands on both of our cheeks turns our face to look at him and says "look at me!!" How funny is that!!!!

Wrong Daycare - Oops!!

So after the hurricane we learned that Jace's daycare, "Little Angels Playhouse" was going to be closed for 4-6 weeks due to water damage from leaks in the roof and leaks around the windows and doors. Thank goodness they have another location that we were able to take Jace to - once they got power back. Luckily for us Jace has the most wonderful Grandparents and Tia's because Dorene, Trini and Yolanda were able to watch Jace on Monday and Tuesday and Grandma & Paw Paw Cain were able to watch him on Wednesday.
On Thursday the day finally came for Luis to take Jace to the other location, which we had had to do about a year earlier when there was a plumbing problem at Jace's location. No worries this should be a piece of cake right, WRONG!!! Turns out Luis took Jace to the other "Little Angels Playhouse" daycare he had the year earlier (which is no longer owned by the same owners as ours). What is scary is they took Jace in. About an hour and a half later after speaking with Luis about it I realized that he had taken him to the wrong place. Needless to say we were both panicked. I was out of the office on my way to get him immediately and Luis was on the phone with the daycare to inform them of the mistake. Obviously Jace was pretty shaken up being in a strange place with no familiar faces. Probably one of the scariest events of my life!!!

Our Beloved Bailey Boy

Well it certainly has been a rough year for our family and our 4 legged kiddo's. See my Mom's email below:

Dear Friends of Bailey,
At 11:30 this morning, Skip and I are taking Bailey on his last trip in the car --to his vet, Dr. Webb. Bailey suddenly lost the use of his back legs last weekend, and after a week of denial on my part it is now time to say our goodbyes. Other than his legs, he is perfectly healthy and continues to eat well and be interested in what's going on around him, so that makes it that much harder. Anyway, please keep us in your thoughts as we lose this precious member of our family.
Thanks,
Debbie

Happy Birthday To You!!

Tonight while eating dinner in the dark (since we were still without power from Hurricane Ike) the 3 of us had a romantic candle lit dinner of spaghetti O's and frito pie. The funniest thing happened - Jace saw the candles and he started to sing "Happy Birthday To You" Luis and I just looked at each other and laughed!!!

Strep Throat - Again

Yuck, I have strep throat for the second time this year!!! At least this time I caught it early - my co-workers were thankful for that!!! A shot in the butt and 24 hours of isolation and I will be as good as new. The hardest thing about it is going that long without hugs and kisses from my guys!!!

End of the Road

We had to put Stout down on Monday night. Apparently while we were on vacation in New York (Dorene was watching him) he started having difficulty walking (Saturday), we thought that maybe he had a pinched nerve or hurt back leg, no biggie. We told her to give him a rimadyl on Sunday, which didn’t help. Also Sunday he stopped eating which was VERY rare for him. He did try to eat a little that evening and started choking which freaked Dorene out so she took him to the Emergency clinic, they ran a bunch of tests and eliminated everything physical so they came to the conclusion that it was neurological, maybe brain cancer. Monday she took him to a friend who is a vet (Andrea Webb) and he progressively got worse, his organs were shutting down. They kept him comfortable until we flew in late Monday night so we could say our goodbyes. He died in our arms just where he would have wanted to be. He had just had his last chemo treatment a couple of weeks ago so we thought he was in the clear for at least a year or so, we were not prepared for this!!!! Luis and I (Skitz & Jace also) are heartbroken and have trouble talking about it so if we don’t take your calls please be patient with us.
